Family Love Language

How do you display love to your kiddos?

My boys and I communicate our love towards another with a sort of quiet language that if you don't pay close attention, may miss. We often use it when others are around, if it is noisy, or when we just don't want to speak.

What is this silent display of love towards another?

It is a simple squint of our eyes. Then the love is communicated back by squinting back to each other. It fills my heart up with so much joy and gratitude for being a mother two my boys.

What's your love language for your kids? Is it a simple squeeze of their hand? Or maybe a kiss on their ear? I would love to hear! Nothing better than hearing about other's display of affection to the important people in their lives.

Much love,
Nush

  1. Love language is huge here.

For J: touching our chest and making eye contacts, drawing pictures, snuggles, saying "you are my heart", and simple thank yous and smiles. She and I have a subtle squint as well, kind of like...."we get eachother".

Andrew and I have our own: He winks at me, I wink back. We kind of bow our heads (out of respect, not a head up version of a lizard claiming his property). He also has his simple love language of caring for others in his family. Making breakfast for his sister, cleaning up dog poop out of the back yard just to do his part without us asking him to, and keeping other's hydrated when they are sick. He is the caretaker. Jordan is the person who knows your soul. Drew is the one who knows your needs and wants...especially food (like me).

Love language is huge here. Our kids even sometimes mention their love languages.

  2. awesome!!!

I believe more love in form of alternative languages should be expressed. I enjoy hearing the communications each family members have within their family circle. Great stuff there girl!

  4. We squeeze hands three times or tap on the others back three times. It started one day when we were all holdings hands while blessing the food and it has become our families secret code. LOL
